National Day against Human Trafficking was celebrated in Nepal.

The National Day Against Human Trafficking was celebrated here in Kathmandu with the slogan “Our Common Campaign, Full Stop to Human Trafficking” on Tuesday. In its 5th year the day was celebrated in collaboration of the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare and different non-governmental organizations like My Nepal, the Alliance Against Trafficking in Women and Children, Nepal (AATWIN), Rakshya Nepal, Maiti Nepal etc.

Speaking at the program, Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Ananda Raj Pokharel said , “ We are fully dedicated towards the issue and doing effective efforts at all levels for rescuing and rehabilitating the women in need. We believe women trafficking is a problem that can be curbed by raising awareness and education and most of Nepalese women trafficked are compelled to work as sex workers. We need to conduct more effective public awareness programs in the country against women trafficking “
